Welcome to Boot Camp for the Post Academic Job Seeker.

This will serve as a contract between you and Beyond the Professoriate. This course will empower participants to become confident in their abilities to conduct a non-faculty job search and land a job suited to their abilities and skills. IT is designed for STEm, humanities, and social science PhDs at any stage of their careers, as well as graduate students who are ABD.

We are not a placement service. We provide education and training about how to conduct an effective job search campaign, but finding a suitable position is ultimately up to you, the client. Remember, even with the right approach, it can often take up to a year of active job searching to land a job. Be patient. Keep at it. We do not, and cannot, find a job for you.

Job searching and career exploration can be difficult. This course will ask you to soul search, question, imagine, research, learn, reach out to new people, and learn a new set of skills. The process can be overwhelming and scary - but also liberating and empowering. Be open to the journey. We'll be there to support you.

We know from experience with individual clients that success occurs most readily for those with an open mind and positive attitude. While we sympathize with the frustrations and disappointments that come with transitioning to a new position, our focus - and the focus of this course - will be on creating forward momentum to get you to the next stage of your career. We have found that framing challenges as opportunities enables individuals to resolve negative emotions and repurpose the energy forward and discover new opportunities.

Coaching is a relationship. Your success will depend on watching the videos, completing the assignments, listening to our feedback on your homework, asking follow up questions, and dedicating yourself to your coaching agreement. This is a process, and you commit to completing all of the work in boot camp.

The course material is designed to reflect the most recent and up-to-date job search methods. You, the client, will not hold Beyond the Professoriate responsible any omissions, errors, or mistakes in the material. You waive all rights to claim, suit action, or demand right to compensations for damages you may claim to have or that may have arising out of acts or omissions by yourself, the staff of Beyond the Professoriate, as a result of advice given by your coach, the instructional videos, or otherwise resulting from the coaching relationship.

You have 90 days from your first payment to complete the online course and to schedule the coaching sessions (4 thirty minute sessions for Boot Camp Basic; 10 coaching sessions for Boot Camp Advanced). After 90 days, your access to the course and any unused coaching minutes, will expire. Exceptions to this policy will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Submit any homework and assignments to be reviewed and discussed in your coaching session at least 24 hrs prior to our appointment.

For al la carte clients, you must complete all assignments in a unit before scheduling your coaching sessions. Failure to do so will result in cancelation and rescheduling of your appointment.
